§ 71.99. PENALTY.

  • (A) General. Violations of all parking regulations, except in instances where parking is prohibited for emergency purposes, are petty misdemeanors and the fine shall be that established by the court after a recommendation from the City Council, but no less than $15.

    (B) Remittance of net fines within ten days of issuance of citation. All violators of parking regulations who remit in envelopes issued as and for traffic summons utilizing forms approved by the City Council for parking violations, and who remit the amount indicated thereon to be the parking fine within a period of ten days from and after the issuance of the citation, shall satisfy the penalty in full by remitting such designated fine amount. With regard to occurrences where the specified fine is not remitted within the ten-day period, the amount of the fine is twice the specified amount.

    (C) Parking violation prosecutions. In the event it becomes necessary to prosecute an alleged parking violation by reason of the non-payment of the fine, in addition to the doubling of the specified basic fine, shall be added a surcharge together with a law library fee as set by the court and, in the discretion of the court, costs of prosecution.

    (D) Towing and storage charges. In the event vehicles are required to be towed and stored in addition to any parking fines and penalties payable on account thereof, there shall be payable a towing charge of $65 per tow and a storage charge of $5 per day.
